704. To ask the Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation her policy in respect of the IDA granting financial support by way of grants, credits, employment benefits and discounts to IDA supported companies that are already here to encourage them to relocate further aspects of their business to other locations here; if the same packages are available in these situations compared with a new company that the IDA brings to the country; and if she will make a statement on the matter. IDA Ireland’s mission is to attract high-value foreign direct investment (FDI) to the country. The Agency achieves that by actively marketing Ireland as an investment location for international companies as well as supporting the growth and expansion of its client base already here. In furtherance of those goals, the Agency may provide grants to companies wishing to locate or expand their existing operations in Ireland. These include employment grants, capital grants and research and development grants.

All of the financial and non-financial supports used by IDA Ireland to attract new investors to the country are also available to existing clients here. It should be made clear, however, that the IDA does not actively encourage companies to relocate from one location within Ireland to another.
