Bord na gCon is a commercial State Agency established under legislation and is independent in the exercise of its operational  functions.

Funding provided to Bord na gCon is spent on a range of activities consistent with its functions under the relevant statutes, including prizemoney, incentive schemes, racing integrity functions and welfare and operating grants to private stadia .

The detailed breakdown of expenditure in these areas in 2017 is an operational matter for Bord na gCon.
