As the Deputy will appreciate, the Garda Commissioner is the accounting officer for an Garda Síochána with responsibility for the allocation of Garda resources, and I, as Minister, have no direct role in these matters.

I am advised that the gross allocation to the Garda Vote over the period specified by the Deputy is set out in the table following and is managed centrally within An Garda Síochána.

Garda Vote Allocation (Gross) 2014 - 2016
2014 (€000s)2015 (€000s)2016 (€000s)
€1,441,528€1,511,947€1,554,524 *
* It is proposed to provide a further €15 million from savings in the Justice vote to the Garda Vote before the end of the financial year in the context of the additional funding of €55 million announced on 8 June 2016 to combat gang-related and other crime.

For the Deputy's further information, the gross allocation to the Garda Vote for 2017 is €1,582,733,000.
