250. To ask the Minister for Education and Skills if there are grants or funding available to a school (details supplied) in County Cork to cover emergency repair works needing to be carried out as a matter of priority, noting that the school has already applied for emergency works funding; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The school referred to by the Deputy applied for funding under my Department's Emergency Works Scheme (EWS) to tarmac their school carpark and access road to the special needs unit.

As the scope of works is outside the terms and conditions of the scheme, the application cannot be considered. The purpose of the Emergency Works Scheme is solely for unforeseen emergencies, and if not corrected would prevent the school from opening.

The correct mechanism for applying for funding for works of this nature is my Department’s Summer Works Scheme.
