608. To ask the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport the status of the development of the west Clare railway greenway from Ennis to Lahinch in County Clare; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [29669/16]

​Clare County Council was awarded funding of €400,000 under the 2014 Government Stimulus Package for infrastructural development to construct Phase 1 of the West Clare Greenway from Ennis to Ballymaquiggan. Clare County Council have delivered a scaled back 3km of the proposed 4.5km cycleway as far as the Lees Road Sports Ground, and are not currently in a position to complete the remaining 1.5km due to local land ownership issues and financial constraints. The section completed can stand alone as a cycleway.

I understand that it is the intention of the Council to deliver this greenway in four phases as funding permits.
