1719. To ask the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport if he will introduce legislation or regulations to ensure that garages do not store vehicles for sale on public streets as is the case at a location (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24363/16]

Legislation governing the parking of vehicles on public roads is covered by the Road Traffic (Traffic and Parking) Regulations 1997, as amended. If a vehicle is parked contrary to these Regulations, such as parked on a footpath, in a cycle track, or outside set parking times or areas, this is an offence. Enforcement of road traffic legislation is a matter for An Garda Siochana or local authority Traffic Wardens.

I do not intend to introduce legislation or regulations at this time specifically for garages as the current regulations cover all vehicles parked on public streets.

More generally, the regulation and control of land use, including land use impacting on public roads, is primarily a matter for planning legislation and enforcement, which is a matter for the relevant local planning authority.
