1657. To ask the Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources the working relationship between his Department and the Advertising Standards Authority for Ireland; if State funding is made available to this body; if so, the detail of funding for each of the past five years; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The Advertising Standards Authority for Ireland (ASAI) is an independent self-regulatory body set up and financed by the advertising industry to promote high standards of advertising and sales promotions.

Officials from my Department meet with the ASAI on occasion to discuss a range of issues in relation to advertising. However, I do not have any role in the operation of this body and no funding is provided by my Department.
