To ask the Minister for Social Protection his plans to continue with the community employment pilot scheme launched in December 2015, whereby people who are 62 years of age and over will have the option of participating on the scheme on a continuous basis, until they reach the State pension age of 66 years; and if he will make a statement on the matter. In January 2016, provision was put in place under the Community Employment (CE) programme to enable older jobseekers (62 years and over) participate on the scheme on a continuous basis until they reach the State Pension age, subject to scheme limits.

The provision is available on a pilot basis and is being monitored by the Department until the end of the year when a review will be undertaken of the pilot scheme. No decisions on its future will be made under after the review is completed.
