I propose to take Questions Nos. 216 and 217 together.

The National Training Fund (NTF) was established in 2000 to raise the skills of those in employment and to provide training to those who wish to acquire skills to take up employment. It is also used to provide information in relation to existing, or likely future requirements for skills in the economy. All training programmes are funded from the NTF and a small amount of funding is allocated to the VTOS further education programme. All other further education programmes are funded from the exchequer.

The information requested by the Deputy in respect of NTF income and expenditure is set out in the attached table. The information requested on programme participants is being compiled and will be sent to the Deputy as soon as possible.
