92. To ask the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport his views on the Blue Way and its implication for the off-shore islands; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22134/16]

I am taking the Deputy's question to relate to the Blueway network of water trails along the west coast of Ireland.

The National Trails Office, which is operated by Sport Ireland along with Fáilte Ireland, Waterways Ireland, and a number of National Governing Bodies including Canoeing Ireland, the Irish Underwater Council and the Irish Sailing Association and other partners, has developed a standard for Blueways. Sport Ireland carries out inspections of compliance with the standard through a trail registration and inspection process.

I have referred the Deputy's question to Sport Ireland for direct reply. I would ask the Deputy to contact my office if a reply is not received within 10 days.
