Under section 159 of the Local Government Act 2001, each Chief Executive is responsible for the staffing and organisational arrangements necessary for carrying out the functions of the local authorities for which he or she is responsible. My Department has not received a sanction request from Louth County Council for a Director of Services post in the past 12 months. Louth County Council currently has 5 posts at Director of Services grade which is the recommended allowable number for a Level 4 local authority.
