222. To ask the Minister for Environment, Community and Local Government his detailed funding plans for 50,000 local authority houses; if he envisages that all of these houses will be managed by local authorities given the recent Oireachtas Committee on Housing and Homelessness report; and if he will make a statement on the matter. My Department is currently preparing an 'Action Plan for Housing', which will seek to address the challenges in the housing sector in a targeted and meaningful way. It will build on the considerable work already carried out or underway in this area. I can assure the Deputy that the recommendations of the Report of the Special Committee on Housing and Homelessnessare being considered in the context of the development of the Action Plan.
My priority is of course to expedite and boost supply of all types of housing, including social housing, in the immediate, medium and longer-terms and this will be set out in the Action Plan, which I will publish in the coming weeks.
