231. To ask the Minister for Environment, Community and Local Government if Uisce Éireann has provided him with details of the administrative costs of the billing and collection of water charges so that he can evaluate the net revenue collected through the billing system; if the cost and amount involved is available; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Irish Water's revenue shortfall, including its administrative costs arising from the proposed suspension of domestic water charges in 2016 is currently under consideration. When account is taken of the savings from the suspension of the water conservation grant for which €110m was allocated in 2016, the cost of suspending domestic water charges is unlikely to exceed €20m in cashflow terms in 2016. Irish Water has established a dedicated team to deal with representations and queries from public representatives. The team can be contacted via email to oireachtasmembers@water.ie or by telephone on a dedicated number, 1890 578 578.
