To ask the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport if the Mallow driver test centre will remain open on a permanent basis, given that the most recent census states that County Cork has the second-highest population in the country, after County Dublin, but has only three driving test centres. ​The operation of the driver testing service is the statutory responsibility of the Road Safety Authority, and I have no role in the location of test centres.  I have therefore referred the question to the Authority for direct reply.  I would ask the Deputy to contact my office if a response has not been received within ten days.
