​Maintenance of the runway at Shannon Airport is an operational matter for Shannon Airport Authority (SAA) which has statutory responsibility for the management and operation of the airport.  As the Deputy will be aware, SAA operates under a commercial mandate and is entirely funded from its own resources with no recourse to the Exchequer.

I have, therefore, forwarded the Question to SAA for direct reply. If the Deputy does not receive a reply within ten working days, please advise my Private Office.
