26. To ask the Minister for Social Protection if a social protection deciding officer must be appointed by the Minister to a specific role; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [8251/16]

Officers of the Department of Social Protection who, for the purpose of their specific role, are required to be Deciding Officers are statutorily appointed by me pursuant to Section 299(1) of the Social Welfare (Consolidation) Act, 2005 for the purpose of any provisions of this Act.
