Local flooding and coastal erosion issues are matters for Local Authorities to investigate and address in the first instance and to carry out flood mitigation and coastal protection works using its own resources.
It is open to Kerry County Council to submit a funding application under the Minor Flood Mitigation Works and Coastal Protection Scheme to the Office of Public Works. Any application received will be considered in accordance with the scheme eligibility criteria, which include a requirement that any measures are cost beneficial, and having regard to the overall availability of resources for flood risk management. Application forms are available on the OPW's website under Flood Risk Management. .
