As the Deputy may be aware, the building project for Douglas Rochestown Educate Together National school is included in the 6 year construction programme that I announced last November.
Officials from my Department have worked closely with officials from Cork County Council under the Memorandum of Understanding for the acquisition of school sites to procure a suitable site for this building project. A site acquisition process is underway at present.
Given the commercial sensitivities associated with land acquisitions generally I am not in a position to provide further details at this time. I can, however, assure you that the acquisition of a new site for the school is a priority for the Department and the school authorities will be informed of the location for the school as soon as it is possible to do so. When the site acquisition has been completed, the project will be progressed to architectural planning.
