I am advised by the Revenue Commissioners that the number of oil laundries detected and closed down in the period from 2011 to 2014 was 31. Details of those detections, by year and by the counties in which they occurred, are set out in the following table.
Year | Cavan | Donegal | Dublin | Laois | Louth | Meath | Monaghan | Offaly | Waterford | Totals |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
2011 | 0 | 1 | 0 | 0 | 1 | 1 | 6 | 0 | 0 | 9 |
2012 | 1 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 7 | 0 | 3 | 0 | 0 | 11 |
2013 | 0 | 0 | 1 | 0 | 2 | 1 | 4 | 0 | 1 | 9 |
2014 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 1 | 0 | 1 | 0 | 0 | 2 |
Totals | 1 | 1 | 1 | 0 | 11 | 2 | 14 | 0 | 1 | 31 |
There were no detections of laundries during 2015.
I am satisfied that significant progress has been made in tackling fuel laundering, and am assured that action against such activities will continue to be a high priority for Revenue.
