252. To ask the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform the status of the Foynes flood alleviation scheme; when the contractor will be appointed to construct it; the construction schedule; the consultation that has taken place with the local community; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Limerick City and County Council (LCCC) are leading on and managing the Foynes flood relief project. The Office of Public Works agreed to fund these works and in December 2015 issued approval to the local authority to proceed. I am advised that LCCC is currently finalising formal agreements with stakeholders and a letter of intent has issued to the successful contractor. The Council expects to appoint the contractor shortly and it is envisaged that works will be completed in four to six months.
