No applications for re-instatement, following retirement on grounds of ill-health, have been granted in my Department in the period since 2004.
Any applications received for re-instatement following retirement on grounds of ill-health are dealt with in accordance with section 11.4 of the Superannuation Handbook for the Civil Service, which contains two conditions which need to be fulfilled with regard to a recall for duty in cases of ill-health retirement – that a person would have to be fit for work; and would also have to be required to return.
