273. To ask the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine if applicants under the green low-carbon agri-environment scheme had their points miscalculated due to a fault in the software his Department provided to farm advisers (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. My Department provided a ‘ready-reckoner’ calculator to facilitate advisors in calculating the score of GLAS clients when preparing applications on the online system. I can confirm that there was no fault in the software provided by the Department and that the software has operated successfully for all other advisors. However, rounding issues did emerge in a very small number of cases when my Department was subsequently calculating scores internally at approval stage. These cases were all very quickly identified and corrected.
