594. To ask the Minister for Environment, Community and Local Government the amount spent on the construction of local authority housing in each of the years 2011 to date, in tabular form, and the estimate for 2016 [44198/15]

The amount spent on the construction of local authority housin g in the years 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014 is outlined in the following table.

To date in 2015, €11.33 million has been spent on direct Exchequer investment in the construction of local authority housing. In addition, a further €43 million has been invested by certain local authorities in the delivery of local authority housing so far this year; this amount has been self-financed from Local Property Tax proceeds in lieu of Exchequer funding and has supported both the construction and acquisition of social housing.

Investment in housing infrastructure has been given priority in Budget 2016with exchequer investment of almost €811 million across a range of housing programmes. In addition, local authorities will fund a range of housing services from their own resources to the value of over €112 million, bringing the total Housing provision in 2016 to €923 million. This funding will facilitate an investment of over €180 million in the construction and acquisition of social housing.
