As the Deputy may be aware, where significant grant aid is provided by the Department for the development of school premises on property not owned by the State, this investment is secured by way of a charging lease.

While I have a vested interest in this site, the land referred to is not in my ownership. In relation to any divesting or disposal arising, this is a matter for the school patron to consider in the first instance.

In circumstances where a request is received to release the Minister's interest secured under a charging lease on part/all of a property, such requests are considered in the context of the specific circumstances which pertain to the individual property.
