I am advised by the Revenue Commissioners that the Mineral Oil Tax (MOT) and VAT content of a litre of petrol and diesel, based on current average prices, are shown in the table below.
Commodity | Price per Litre | Mineral Oil Tax Content | VAT Content | Total Tax Content |
---|---|---|---|---|
(1 Litre) | (Cent) | (Cent) | (Cent) | (Cent) |
Petrol | 130.9 | 58.771 | 24.477 | 83.248 |
Diesel | 119.9 | 47.902 | 22.420 | 70.322 |
The Deputy may be interested to note the 2014 figures are published on the Revenue statistics webpage at: . The MOT rates have remained unchanged, however the average price paid at the garage pump for both petrol and diesel has fallen therefore impacting the amount of VAT paid.
