It was with great shock and sadness that I learned about the tragic loss of so many lives in the terrible air disaster over the Sinai Peninsula on 31 October. The Taoiseach has written to Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev to convey the sympathies of the Government and the Irish people. I would also like to express again my heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and their loved ones at this difficult time. A book of condolences was opened by the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Dublin on 2 and 3 November to allow Irish citizens an opportunity to express their respects and sympathies. The book was signed on behalf of the Government by Minister of State Dara Murphy TD.
