354. To ask the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade if he will provide a detailed breakdown of the consultation and engagement his Department has had with the authorities in India following the tragic and sudden death of a person (details supplied); if an investigation is under way into the suspicious circumstances surrounding the death; and if he will ensure the family receive the toxicology report, without further delay. The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, through the Embassy of Ireland in New Delhi and the Consular Assistance Section in Dublin, has been providing ongoing consular assistance to this man’s family since his tragic death in December 2014. The family were provided with the toxicological results last June, which were obtained on foot of a Third Party Note sent by the Irish Embassy to the Indian Foreign Ministry.

My Department’s contact with the Indian authorities, including the Mumbai police, regarding this case is ongoing. My Department remains available to this family and I wish to assure the Deputy that all appropriate consular assistance will continue to be provided.
