Officials from my Department’s Heritage Division had informal discussions some time ago with representatives of Louth County Council in relation to Ardee Castle. The discussions related to matters such as universal access, archaeological and architectural conservation and fire safety requirements. No formal proposals have been since been received by my Department, either as statutory consultee under the Planning and Development Acts or under the National Monuments Acts.
