Back to Education Allowance Eligibility

50. To ask the Tánaiste and Minister for Social Protection if she will review an application for a back to education allowance for a person (details supplied) in County Kildare; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [33871/15]

In order to qualify for the Back to Education Allowance scheme (BTEA) while pursuing a third level course certain conditions must be fulfilled, including being in receipt of a qualifying social welfare payment for 9 months(234 paid or credited days of unemployment).

The person concerned submitted a BTEA application on 11 September 2015, at which point he was advised by email that as he had a total of 186 days and would not be eligible.
