1022. To ask the Minister for Health to provide details on the number of people who pay for private health insurance policies; and the average price of their policies. [31511/15]

The latest available figure from the Health Insurance Authority shows that the number insured with in-patient policies at end-June 2015 was 2.118 million, or 46% of the Irish population.

The average health insurance premium for in-patient cover paid to the insurers in 2014 was €1,200.
