131. To ask the Taoiseach if he will provide details of all barristers, senior and junior counsel, briefed by the Office of the Attorney General for the years 2011 to 2014 and up to September 2015; and if he will provide details of their remuneration and specifically the amount of fees earned by each individual barrister for the years 2011 to 2014 and up to September 2015. The following tables show the information requested by the Deputy.

In relation to all the figures supplied it is important to note that they are based on total payments made to counsel during each of those years. It is possible that some of the payments relate to work that actually took place in earlier periods, including those made to judges in respect of work prior to their appointment. Similarly, it is likely that counsel have been briefed or have carried out work during more recent periods but if they had not been paid by end of August 2015 they would not appear on the list. Some payments may have been made to the estate of a deceased counsel which is why Deceased orPersonal Representative may appear as the payee. It is also possible that there are instances where an individual has two entries in a single year, one showing payments for their work as a junior counsel and one showing payments for their work as a senior.
