Under the Child Care Act 1991, as amended, the Child and Family Agency has responsibility for payment of any costs incurred by a person who has been appointed by a court to act as a guardian ad litemin proceedings under the Act.

The Agency has informed me that its financial system does not provide details of payments to guardians ad litemon a local authority basis. The figure for payments made direct to guardians ad litemto end of May 2015 is €3,974,698.49. These are the most recent figures available. This figure does not include legal fees relating to the provision of guardian ad litemservices.
