400. To ask the Minister for Justice and Equality if her Department was notified by the Department of Social Protection of an identity error in respect of a person (details supplied); the measures her Department has taken to ensure there are no residual consequences for the person in question; if she will outline how the various records have been amended; if her Department will acknowledge the error in writing to this person; if the Data Protection Acts were breached and, if so, whether this has been notified to the Data Protection Commissioner; if not, the reason for this; and if she will make a statement on the matter. In relation to the particular case that the Deputy has mentioned, I have asked officials in my Department to establish the precise detail of how this situation arose, in liaison with the Department for Social Protection.

I will be in further contact with the Deputy when the facts of the case have been established.
