72. To ask the Minister for Finance the additional revenue that would be generated if the stamp duty on conveyances and transfers of properties valued at over €1million was increased to 3%; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [27872/15]

It is assumed the Deputy is referring to stamp duty on residential property, which is currently 1% on the first €1 million of the consideration and 2% on the excess.I am advised by the Revenue Commissioners that the estimated yield to the Exchequer from increasing the 2% rate to 3% would be in the region of €9 million.
