566. To ask the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport if he will investigate the poor service which is being experienced by commuters on the Sligo-Mullingar-Dublin rail service, particularly from the perspective of functionality, given that peak train times have run late on at least three mornings out of every five during the month of June 2015, which is clearly inadequate in the context of commuters paying up to €100 for weekly return tickets to get to their place of work or to study in a timely fashion; if he will ascertain the steps Iarnród Éireann will take to substantially improve the service; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The issue raised is a matter for the National Transport Authority (NTA) in conjunction with Iarnród Éireann and I have forwarded the Deputy's question to the NTA for direct reply. Please advise my private office if you do not receive a response within ten working days.
