Under the terms of my Department's Primary School Transport Scheme, children are eligible for transport where they reside not less than 3.2 km from and are attending their nearest national school.

The Remote Area Grant is payable to eligible families who have applied for school transport within prescribed time limits and for whom no service is available. Full details of the Remote Area Grant are available on my Department's website at www.education.ie.

Bus Éireann, which operates the school transport scheme on behalf of my Department, has advised that the family in question has not submitted a completed application form for school transport for the 2015/16 school year.

In this regard, the family should liaise with their local Bus Éireann office in Tralee at 066-7164750 or by e-mail at schools.tralee@buseireann.ie.
