I propose to take Questions Nos. 379 and 380 together.

As the Deputy will appreciate, the Garda Commissioner is responsible for the distribution of personnel among the Garda Regions, Divisions, and Districts. Garda management keep this distribution under continuing review in the context of crime trends and policing priorities so as to ensure that the best possible use is made of these resources.

I have been informed by the Garda Commissioner that the personnel strength of Dublin Metropolitan Region (D.M.R.) South which as of 30 April 2015, the latest date for which figures are available has a total strength of 534. There are also 39 Garda Reserves and 27 Civilians attached to the Division. The number of Gardaí assigned to Tallaght Garda station is 169.

The distribution of vehicles within the DMR South Region can change frequently depending on operational requirements however I have been informed by the Garda authorities that since the end of 2014, 9 cars and 1 van have been issued to the DMR South Division in which Tallaght resides.
