204. To ask the Minister for Health if he is aware that Beaumont Hospital, Dublin 9 has made a decision to re-assign a surgical ward (details supplied) into a long-term care of the elderly ward; if he will ascertain the assessment of the impact of the loss of 34 surgical beds on patient outcomes that has been undertaken by Beaumont Hospital; the way such a move may improve the situation for the 6,162 persons on the day case / in patient waiting lists in the hospital, which is the second highest number in the country, and an increase of more than 1,000 over the past twelve months; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
