59. To ask the Minister for Social Protection if she will accept this inquiry as notice of appeal against a decision to refuse a carer’s allowance in the case of a person (details supplied) in County Kildare; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [24426/15]

I am advised by the Social Welfare Appeals Office that, to date, no appeal in respect of disallowance of Carers Allowance has been received from the person concerned.

In order to make a valid appeal the person concerned should write to the Social Welfare Appeals Office outlining her grounds of appeal i.e. the reason why she disagrees with the conclusions of the Deciding Officer. On receipt of same, an appeal will be opened.

The Social Welfare Appeals Office functions independently of the Minister for Social Protection and of the Department and is responsible for determining appeals against decisions in relation to Social Welfare entitlements.
