71. To ask the Minister for Finance if a person who received a lump sum payment in the course of employment as a consequence of a reorganisation of staff, and where pay-related social insurance and income tax were deducted from the lump sum payment, is entitled to have that lump sum payment included in the reckoning of that person's pension rights; and if he will make a statement on the matter. It is not possible, from the limited details set out in the question, to provide a definitive answer to the query posed. However, if the Deputy provides me with more complete details I will have officials of my Department consider the matter in conjunction with the Revenue Commissioners and advise him of the position.
