To ask the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine if he will extend the carbon navigator deadline from October 2016, due to the significant pressure that would arise for farmers, their planners and advisers, by the implementation of the earlier timelines; and if he will make a statement on the matter. My Department believes that there is sufficient capacity in the system to ensure that the deadline of October 2016 for the completion of the carbon navigator can be achieved and is satisfied that the timeframe for completion as outlined in the Terms and Conditions of the Beef Data Genomics Programme is appropriate. To ensure that BDGP participants have access to advisors who are fully trained in the completion of Carbon Navigators, my Department will shortly issue a tender offering suppliers the opportunity to tender for the delivery of this training to qualified advisors.
