To ask the Minister for Education and Skills the status of the appeals made by a number of this Deputy's constituents (details supplied) to the school transport Appeals Board; if their appeals will be considered valid; if consideration has been given to the need for a mechanism, whereby a common sense approach can be applied by Bus Éireann, in situations such as the one regarding Mamore Gap; and if she will make a statement on the matter. The Deputy will be aware from my previous reply that the School Transport Appeals Board is independent of my Department.
The Appeals Board will inform the families in question directly of their determination on the matter.
