406. To ask the Minister for Education and Skills if she will examine an application in respect of a school (details supplied) in County Kerry for a general purpose room, which will finalise the development project, as per plans submitted to her Department; and if she will make a statement on the matter. As the Deputy is aware the school was approved funding, on a devolved basis, in December 2014 last for the provision of three general classrooms, one resource room and ancillary accommodation to replace existing prefabs. Funding was also provided for the associated prefab removal costs.
The school subsequently requested that the project approved would be reviewed to allow the provision of two specialist rooms instead of two general classrooms, as previously agreed. I wish to advise the Deputy that the revised application from the school did not include for a General Purpose room. The revised application is currently under consideration by my Department and a decision will be conveyed to the school, in question, in due course.
