To ask the Minister for Justice and Equality her plans to change the timing of pensions for retired members of An Garda Síochána, from a system of advance payment to one of arrears; if so, the rationale for this change; the timing of the proposed change; and if she will make a statement on the matter. I propose to take Questions Nos. 260 and 269 together.

To date no proposals have been agreed to change the process by which retired members of An Garda Síochána are paid their pension from the current method of payment in advance. I can, however, state that consideration of this matter is at an exploratory stage.
