To ask the Minister for Health the role of the ambulance service in transferring elderly sick patients from nursing homes to appointments in outpatient departments in local hospitals; the situation and the arrangements in place for elderly persons who have no transport and are only capable, due to their medical conditions, of being transported in an ambulance to enable them travel to a hospital; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
