713. To ask the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport the financial options available to the State in supporting the construction of a national ice arena which could be used for exhibitions and training for the Olympics and Paralympics; if he will provide revenues from rental uses; and if he will make a statement on the matter. There is no funding at the present time for a national ice arena.Furthermore, there are currently no proposals for the development of an ice rink or ice skating centre at the National Sports Campus, nor have any feasibility studies been submitted to National Sports Campus Development Authority in this regard. The Authority would consider any proposals submitted to it for potential future sports facilities to be included in the National Sports Campus. However, capital funding allocated in 2015 for the development of facilities at the Campus is fully committed and there is no funding available at present for new developments.

On Tuesday 10th March I was delighted to announce the opening of the 2015 round of the Sports Capital Programme. I would advise all those who are interested to ensure that they are registered on the online system before 5pm on Friday 10thApril 2015 (if not already registered) and to submit their online applications well in advance of the deadline of 5pm on Friday 24thApril 2015.
