588. To ask the Minister for Health the criteria by which a person can be prioritised on the audiology waiting list for hearing aids; if the severity of the hearing condition is relevant to prioritisation; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11342/15]

Priority is given in accordance with a range of criteria, including an individual's health status, age, source of referral, and living circumstances. More detailed information will be forwarded directly to the Deputy. The HSE is reviewing and standardising all national audiology work processes during 2015 including the referral prioritisation system.
