215. To ask the Minister for Finance further to Parliamentary Question No. 157 of 15 November 2011, in which he stated that at no point were Irish pounds being printed or was consideration being given to printing them, if that was in fact the case, in view of comments made by the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform (details supplied); if he will provide, in detail, the contingency plans referred to by that Minister; and if he will make a statement on the matter. My response to Parliamentary Question No. 157 of 15 November 2011 was accurate, at no point in 2011 (or since) were Irish pounds being printed. This is not to state that no contingency plans were developed or that no consideration was given to the steps which could become necessary had the crisis then ongoing escalated to the point that the Euro was no longer available as a functioning currency. It would not be appropriate to publish the detail of any such contingency planning.
