I acknowledge that the current surge in ED activity is causing difficulty, both in Emergency Departments and subsequent to admission, for patients, their families and the staff who are doing their utmost to provide safe, quality care in very challenging circumstances.

At the outset I would like to express my sincere regret to Mr. Feeney’s family for any distress and upset caused to them throughout this very difficult time. I understand that the hospital view this as a very serious issue, that they are investigating the matter and that they are liaising with Mr. Feeney’s family.

In view of the fact that Beaumont Hospital are investigating the matter, I have asked the HSE to respond to you directly. If you have not received a reply from the HSE within 15 working days please contact my Private Office and my officials will follow the matter up with them.
