To ask the Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources further to his reply to this Deputy on 29 January 2015 regarding the extension of the natural gas grid, whether Gaslink replied to his request to meet this Deputy; if Gaslink indicated it would meet this Deputy in view of the fact that this Deputy has had no contact from Gaslink in the meantime; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As I indicated in reply to the Question referred to, the development and expansion of the natural gas network is in the first instance a commercial matter for Gaslink, which is mandated under Section 8 of the Gas Act 1976, as amended, to develop and maintain a national system for the supply of natural gas that is both economical and efficient.

I understand that the company has recently contacted the Deputy with a view to a meeting in order to discuss the matter.
